How booking a transfer works

Vayolo shows departures and available seats directly from each operator. When you book, your name is added to the operator's passenger list.

Contact platform support or open your operator’s page for boarding directions and travel contacts.

Airport pickup or Malé departure?

Boats may wait in Malé before calling at the airport and continuing to the islands. Choose the harbour where you will board. If you are joining at the airport, select the airport as your departure point when it is listed.

A pickup time is for your selected stop. It can be later than the boat’s departure from Malé. Check the date, Maldives time, operator’s check-in deadline and latest updates before travelling.

Airport pickup is available here only when an operator has published that call. If the airport is not listed, confirm transfer arrangements with your operator or accommodation. A scheduled boat time does not guarantee a connection from your flight.

Reserving a seat

Search by the island you are leaving and the island you are going to, then pick a departure. You will see the fare, journey time and remaining seats before entering any passenger details.

Nothing is charged when you reserve, and you do not need an account. We ask for the name on each guest's ID because that name goes on the operator's manifest, and for an email address and phone number so the operator can reach you if the boat is delayed.

While you complete the booking, the seats and fare are held for the time shown on screen. If the hold expires, search again to check the latest availability.

Seats on a multi-stop run

Most speedboats here run bus-style: one boat calls at several islands in a row, and your crossing is one part of a longer route.

Availability is counted for your part of the route, not the whole journey. A seat can become available after another passenger leaves at an earlier island.

On boats that assign seats you pick yours from the cabin plan. On open-seating boats — how most public ferries run — you sit where you like once aboard, and there is no plan to choose from.

Fares and paying

You pay the ferry operator directly at the harbour unless that operator accepts card payments online. Search results show the total, including taxes, for the passengers you selected. Child and infant fares depend on the operator, so the total updates when you enter who is travelling.

A return journey is two one-way tickets. If an operator sells a cheaper return fare over its own counter, a booking made here will not include it.

Changes and cancellations

Each ferry operator sets its own change, cancellation and refund rules. Review them before you confirm. To change or cancel a confirmed booking, contact the operator with your booking reference. An unfinished booking is released when the hold on screen runs out.

If a boat is delayed or cannot run, the operator updates the departure and we pass that on to the contact details on the booking.

Boarding

Some operators issue a boarding pass with a QR code, which you show at the jetty. Others board from the manifest, in which case your booking reference is the ticket and the crew will have your name. Either way the pass and the reference are on the booking.

Bring the ID whose name is on the booking. The manifest is a safety document, so a name that does not match the ID is a problem at the jetty rather than a formality.

Finding a booking again

Every trip booked with your email address appears under My trips — whether you booked here, through an island agent, or over the operator's own counter. Your name and sign-in live under Account, where you can also save the people who usually travel with you — one profile can hold several named adults, children, and infants for faster checkout. You sign in with an email address and a password.

If a trip is missing, it is almost always because the operator wrote down a different address at the counter. Sign in with that one instead.

Running boats, or selling transfers

Ferry operators publish their departures here and receive payment directly. Ask an operator to appoint you if you are a guesthouse or island agent who wants to sell their seats, or sign in as an operator or an agent or guesthouse.
